The reimbursement of tuition fee and scholarships to backward classes students has turning out to be a noose around Kiran Kumar Reddy government.

The cabinet sub-committee which held a meeting with the representatives of the college managements expressed its helplessness in paying not more than Rs 1,000 crore, but the managements rejected the offer and are gearing up for a total shutdown of the colleges from February 24.

Taking advantage of the situation, former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan reddy announced that he would undertake week-long fast at Indira Park from today for a week, demanding immediate release of funds for fee reimbursement to the engineering students.

He alleged that the government was not feeling ashamed even after Supreme Court reprimanded it on the issue of fee reimbursement.
