Govt releases Rs 1,000 Cr to Engg Colleges

The stand-off between the State government and the private engineering colleges on the fees reimbursement issue appears to have been resolved, as the government agreed to release Rs 1,000 crores out of the total dues of Rs 3,340 crores.
The Ministers, Mr. Pitani Satyanarayana, Mr Botcha Satyanarayana and Mr Baswaraju Saraiah, briefed the media after the meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee with the representatives of the engineering colleges.
Mr Pitani Satyanarayana has explained that the number of students has considerably increased and this was the reason why the funds allotted for fee reimbursement became insufficient.
Mr Botcha Satyanarayana has reiterated that the government was committed to continue the fee reimbursement scheme introduced for the first time in the country by late chief minister Dr Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy.
