BJP State spokesperson and senior leader Vanam Jhansi Rani died in a ghastly road accident on Hyderabad-Srisailam road around 8.30 a.m. on Saturday, near Kadthal village of Amangal mandal in the district.She was proceeding towards Hyderabad from her native town Achampet, where she made the night halt after participating in Telangana movement and a temple programme at Ippalapally village of Amrabad mandal.

She was travelling in a Suzuki Swift car which was hit by an Innova car coming in the opposite direction. Jhansi Rani sat in the front seat beside the driver. She sustained injuries to her head, right leg and right hand besides the chest. According to sub-inspector of Amangal V.Venkat apart from Jhansi, a boy Balu, who was also travelling in the car fractured his leg while driver Srikanth received minor injuries.

As a mark of respect to the departed BJP leader, business establishments and educational institutions voluntarily observed a bandh at Achampet town. Rich tributes were paid to Jhansi at the district BJP office.
