Parliamentary panel suggests fivefold pay hike to MPs
At a time when price hike is pinching the common man, politicians are set to get themselves a hefty pay hike. The Parliamentary Committee on Salaries has approved fivefold increase in the MPs salary and a bill is set to be passed in Parliament in the ongoing monsoon session.
A monthly salary of Rs 80,001 apart, if all the perks are included, the cost to country or CTC will come to over Rs 2 lakh per month per MP. The last hike in salaries and allowances of 795 MPs, 545 members of Lok Sabha and 250 members of Rajya Sabha came into effect about 10 years ago.
