Former MP Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy has said that his group will not contest next month's elections to the Legislative Council but gave a call to the electorate to follow their conscience and exercise their franchise. Elections to 10 seats each from Assembly and Local Authorities Constituency would be held on March 17 and 21.
The electorate comprises MLAs and elected representatives of local bodies comprising the mandal and zilla parishad. In a statement issued late on Friday night, Mr. Jagan tried to clear the air about speculation in political circles that his group was planning to contest the elections stating that till the process of formation of the new party was complete, there were no such plans.
He said, that they are more concerned about building the new party. Those admiring late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy can follow their conscience and vote in the Council polls, he pointed out.
