Only rubber bullets used: DGP

Director General of Police K. Aravinda Rao has said that the police fired only rubber bullets when a huge mob turned violent at Vadditandra in Srikakulam district, resulting in the death of two persons and injuries to six others, on Monday. He said, that both the casualties occurred on account of firing from close range.
While one person was hit on the scrotum, the other apparently died of heart attack as he complained of chest pain. There was no penetrating injury on him. Mr. Rao also said the police was forced to open fire as they were surrounded by 600 to 700 villagers from all sides. They carried sticks and stones. Some policemen were also injured in the battle.
