The State government has ordered a magisterial enquiry into the circumstances leading to police firing at Vadditandra in Srikakulam district resulting in two deaths.

Home Minister P. Sabitha Reddy told this correspondent that the enquiry would be held by the mandalrevenue officer of Santhabommali, and he was expected to submit a report to the government at the earliest.

The Collectors of the district had already issued the necessary orders to enable the MRO to go ahead with the enquiry. She said it was too early to say if the police were wrong in opening the fire.

The government, after receiving the enquiry report, would take a decision to extend aid to the families of the deceased.
