All opposition parties criticised Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee for presenting a Budget that lacked direction and had nothing to offer for the poor.

Telugu Desam party president N. Chandrababu Naidu said there was nothing in the Union Budget for aam aadmi and farmers and
demanded a separate budget for agriculture on the lines of Railways.

Common man was reeling under rise in prices of essential commodities, petrol and high inflation, but the Centre failed to come up with a concrete plan to mitigate their suffering. Welfare of SCs, STs and BCs was ignored and there was not much of allocation for Public Distribution System.
