Chiru demands high level judicial probe into Kakarapalli firing incident

Condemning the police firing on the villagers of Kakarapalli in Srikakulam district, Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi on Tuesday demanded that the state government institute a high level judicial probe into the incident.
Taking a serious note on the deaths of the two protestors, Mr Chiranjeevi demanded that the government announce a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to next to kin of the victims and Rs 3 lakh to the injured. Alleging that the government policies are benefiting a few rich people, Mr Chiranjeevi said his party had never shied from its responsibilities.
He assured that the PRP would always question the government over any faulty policies and work to protect the interests of the people. The power plants set up by the private companies are causing serious environmental damages, Mr Chiranjeevi said.
