Mahasivaratri celebrations at Srisailam
Religious fervour and pomp marked the Mahasivaratri celebrations at Srisailam, the abode of Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and his consort Sri Bramarambhika Devi, on Wednesday.
Srisailam is considered an important place among Shiva shrines in the country being one of the 12 Jyothirlingas and Saktipeethams. The shrine attracts a huge size of pilgrims from different parts of State and neighbouring Karnataka & Maharashtra.
A marked difference was seen in the flow of pilgrims this year with visitors getting staggered over the last 10 days since the beginning of the festival. However, a sizeable portion of pilgrims preferred darshan and stay on Sivaratri.
