TD, CPM protest against unofficial power cuts

After continuous disruption of proceedings by the Opposition over the Telangana issue, the state Assembly on Saturday, for the first time during the current Budget Session transacted normal business smoothly. Even though MLAs from Telangana continued their boycott on Saturday, the Seemandhra MLAs remained calm enabling Question Hour.
During a discussion on measures to overcome power shortage during the summer, members from the TD, CPM and Lok Satta said that unofficial power cuts were being imposed all over the state causing inconvenience to the students. The TD member, Mr D. Narendra, said even drinking water supply schemes in hundreds of villages was being affected due to unofficial power cuts.
The CPM members said the government failed to give nine - hour power supply to the agricultural sector, and the present seven-hour power supply was also being given in a staggered manner causing inconvenience to farmers.
