Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu has accused the Congress governments in the State and Centre, for indulging in rampant corruption and said the party is set to be routed whenever elections are held. The Congress, which was certain about its fate, was trying to weaken the TDP, the only strong alternative to the ruling party in the State.

He said that, The merger of the Praja Rajyam in the Congress and the efforts to rope in the Telangana Rashtra Samiti into its fold were steps in this direction, but the TDP had weathered several such storms in the past to emerge as an alternative to the Congress. Mr. Naidu was speaking after admitting Anantapur former Mayor V. Prabhakara Chowdhary into the party. The joining was preceded by an impressive procession led by Mr. Chowdhary who arrived in the city along with his supporters.
