Million March: Pro-Telangana leaders taken into custody

On the other side the pro-Telangana leaders taken into custody, the protestors who uprooted barricades put up on both ends of the road, outnumbered policemen and succeeded in holding the march despite the police sealing all the routes leading to the road and arresting thousands of people across Telangana region to prevent them from reaching Tankbund.

Congress MPs K. Keshava Rao and Madhu Yashki, who had reached Tank Bund to participate in the march, faced the ire of protestors, who threw water bottles and other missiles demanding they resign. Both the leaders were forced to leave the venue.

The TRS MLAs were taken into custody soon after they started marching toward the Tank Bund at Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad, the venue of the protest. Talking to the newspersons TRS MLA T Harish Rao said, that the government cannot suppress the Telangana agitation by arrests. The people are only expressing their democratic wish, he told reporters when he and his colleagues were being taken into custody. Later Harish Rao, managed to reach Tank Bund in a boat.

TDP MLAs E. Dayakar Rao, senior BJP leader Ch. Vidyasagara Rao and others were taken into custody near Basheerbagh.
The Telangana political Joint Action Committee Convener M. Kodandaram was detained as he was coming out of the JAC office. Police have been behaving in a very undemocratic way. They have arrested hundreds of people in entire Telangana, Mr. Kodandaram told newspersons.

Even policemen in plain-clothes were arresting people, and the vehicles of the MLAs were being checked, he claimed. TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao's legislator son Tarakarama Rao was re-arrested near Tank Bund. Chandrasekhara Rao's daughter Kavita was also among the protestors.Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Kishan Reddy and senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya also reached Tank Bund, along with hundreds of party workers.
Scores of Telangana supporters still reached the Tank Bund and shouted slogans in support of a separate Telangana and against the Congress government.
