Tank Bund statues thrown into lake
Pro-Telangana activists, after attacking Telangana Congress MPs Madhu Yaskhi Goud and K. Kesava Rao, turned their anger at statues of renowned Telugu personalities which were installed on the Tank Bund at the time of the rule of former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao.
Angry protesters reportedly damaged five statues including the one of Palnadu Brahma Naidu and hoisted the Telangana flag during the Million March. Mobs also caused extensive damage to the statues of Annamaiah, Yerra Pragada, Kandhukuri Veeresalingam, Molla and Triupuraneni Rama Swamy. The remnants of the statues were thrown into the Hussain Sagar Lake. Paramilitary forces deployed on the Tank Bund were reportedly outnumbered by the march.
