Security beefed up for I-Day

The city police have made elaborate security arrangements in the wake of terror alert to the Independence Day celebrations today.The commissioner of police, Mr A.K. Khan, said around 700 policemen were deployed at the Parade Grounds for the I-Day celebrations. Anti-sabotage checks have been carried out during the past one week. A large number of policemen have been on job in plain clothes. Traffic restrictions are imposed around the venue, Mr Khan said. he said. they will not allow people who carry baggage to Parade Grounds.
