Speaking in the assembly, Minister for Information Technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah on tuesday said that shortage in power was due to the increase in number of consumers. Stating that necessary steps have been taken to meet the power cuts during summer, the minister added their was a decrease in the supply quota from the central unit adding to which their are technical problems in the power supply.

Keeping in mind the on going examinations, Ponnala said the department has ensured for continuos power supply from 6pm to 6am. He added that seven hour supply to farmers will be provided shortly.
