Cops caution against Holi parties

The city police on Friday cautioned against the use of intoxicating drinks like bhang and organising gatherings at public places. The level of noise pollution will have to be kept in check. Permission for parties will be given only if they are conducted within the parameters of law, said Dr Akun Sabharwal, DCP central zone.
Throwing colours on unwilling passersby, hooliganism and drunkenness will result in penalty or arrest, said the DCP. On Holi, March 19, there will be special police pickets, especially in areas of mixed population, patrolling will be intensified and stringent checks for drunken driving will be conducted.
