Election to LACs to be webcast live

The Election Commission has decided to webcast live proceedings at the 27 polling stations where voting for elections to nine Legislative Council seats, under the Local Authorities Constituencies will be held today. Accordingly, the EC had put in place 3 cameras inside and one at the entrance of each of the polling stations, enabling live coverage of the process.
Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal, who reviewed the arrangements for the polling on Sunday, told reporters that the proceedings were being webcast to ensure transparency in the election process and avoid scope for any irregularities. Mr. Bhanwarlal cautioned the contesting candidates as well as the officials concerned to ensure that the voters' lists were not taken outside the polling stations. Stringent action would be initiated against those indulging in it.
