CPM's secretary B V Raghavulu and 3 other party leaders on Moday, continued their indefinite fast despite an appeal from State government to call off their protest. State Textiles Minister P Shankar Rao and Rural Development Minister D Manikya Vara Prasad held talks with Raghavulu at the state-run Gandhi hospital & appealed him to call off the fast.
The government is already implementing majority of the 50 demands, mostly concerning welfare of dalits, tribals, and farmers, being made by the CPI(M) leaders and would take steps for plugging loopholes. The Minister said, Raghavulu should call off his fast and hold talks with the government on the demands. Demanding a more concrete response from the government, Raghavulu refused to withdraw the fast.
