Three electrocuted in city

Independence Day celebrations turned tragic for a second-year degree student as he was electrocuted while trying to arrange an iron rod to hoist the national flag on Sunday morning at the Kukatpally Housing Board Colony. Two of his friends escaped with burns. Dilip was trying to put the rod to the flagpost along with his friends, Rajesh Goud and Ramesh at the KPHB bus stop when it came in contact with high-tension wires overhead resulting in serious burn injuries.
While Dilip died on the spot, Rajesh and Ramesh escaped with burns. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital where their condition was stable, police said. The celebrations were organised by one of the injured persons and local youth Congress leader Rajesh Goud. A resident of Gokul flats in KPHB, Dilip was a second-year B.Com student. His father, Dhanraj is a police constable of Kandukur police station in Ranga Reddy district. Locals cancelled the programme after the tragic incident.
