AP Assembly adjourned till Monday over land allotment issue

The State Assembly was adjourned till Monday without transacting any business as both the ruling and the Opposition parties indulged into a game of political oneupmanship over the issue of land allotment in the state.
After almost conceding to the demand of Opposition for constitution of either a Joint Legislature Committee or a House Committee to probe the land allotments from 2004 or even before yesterday, the ruling Congress on saturday tried to deflect the issue with the help of its ally MIM with the latter demanding a separate probe by a JLC into allegedly illegal allotments of Wakf lands across the state. At the same time, a handful of Congress MLAs from Telangana stood up and raised slogans in support of a separate state.
