Legislators insisting on a three-fold increase in their salary

The state government is exercising on the demand for hike in salaries by the legislators of different parties, including the ruling Congress. The legislators are said to be insisting on a three-fold increase in their salary and allowances from the existing Rs. 36,800, taking their total monthly emoluments to over Rs. 90,000.
The Amenities Committee of the Legislature already discussed the issue in detail, but could not come to a decision on the quantum of the hike. Unhappy with their present emoluments, they told the Deputy Speaker that their emoluments were not commensurate with their financial commitments.
The Amenities Committee agreed to a suggestion for setting up constituency-level offices with necessary infrastructure for MLAs.
