All set for Queen's Baton relay

As many as 50,000 students from 126 schools and 59 colleges along with nearly 3,500 NCC cadets would participate in the Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton relay in the city today. Collector J. Syamala Rao said at a press conference on Sunday that the relay would be held in a systematic manner and all arrangements were in place.

The Baton relay would cover a total distance of 21 km. A cultural programme would be held at the Swarna Bharati stadium from 4 p.m. in which children from several schools would participate. The programme would continue for about four hours and many sportspersons of the region would be felicitated.

Noted music director Ramana Gogula and child singer Sai Deva Harsa would be performing during the function. From the Port stadium, the Baton would pass through Gurdwara junction, Satyam junction, Maddilapalem junction, AU Engineering College, All India Radio and Siripuram junction before reaching Swarna Bharati stadium via the VIP road.
