Water leaks from NTTPS fly ash pipeline

A pipeline carrying fly ash along with water from the cooling tower to the ash pond of the Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station bursted on Sunday night, leading to the flooding of several roads in the locality, including a school. The pipeline close to Nimra College and Seventh Day Adventists' School in West Ibrahimpatnam burst open and the water carrying ash along with it started filling the side drains.
The newly-laid pipeline along the Highway to Kondapalli Fort road developed cracks leading to the incident. None of the residential localities was inundated in the incident. No injury or casualty was reported from anywhere. The NTTPS officials said, it was not a leak from a pipeline, but probably some farmers blocked the drain, which led to the overflow of water coming from the ash pond.
