Incessant rain battered parts of coastal Andhra and Telangana for the second day on Sunday, as the south-west monsoon turned vigorous under the influence of a low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal. Several streams, tanks and rivulets in the regions were in spate. The Met Centre said heavy rain would continue in Telangana and Coastal Andhra today as well, due to the low pressure area in the sea. Several places in the two regions received heavy rainfall ranging up to 9 cm each. Excess rainfall received by the State went up to 25 per cent, while it was 54 per cent in Rayalaseema, 50 per cent in coastal Andhra and 11 per cent in Telangana.
