TDP stalls assembly over VIMS issues

Minister for Medical Education D L Ravindra Reddy on Tuesday gave an assurance in the state assembly that the proposed Visakhapatnam Institute of Medical Sciences will be developed and maintained on the lines of NIMS in the city.
During the question hour, TDP floor leader Dadi Veerabhadra Rao asked the government to sanction further funds for commencement of the first phase of the VIMS which is under construction in 110.24 acres of land. TDP leader also demanded that the Institute should be maintained by the government instead of handing over to either under BOT or PPP system.
Later the minister stated that a committee will study the reports on feasibility of the Institute and sanction of more funds in the first week of next month as every year the government had to spend Rs 30-35 Crore for maintenance of institute.
