EAMCET-2011 will be held on May 22 instead of the scheduled date of May 8 as the date clashed with the dates of by-elections announced for Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies. The decision was taken at a meeting on Thursday after exploring all options.

The government chose May 22 in tune with its decision to conduct the exam on a Sunday to avoid inconvenience to students, said JNTUH Vice-Chancellor and EAMCET-2011 Chairman D.N. Reddy. Officials also discussed May 15 but there were some logistic issues like the availability of centres, apart from the counting of elections on May 13.

Prof. Reddy said that there need not be any worry over delay as the exam date was a week earlier compared to last year when it was held on May 30. As a result, the schedule for submitting application forms has also been extended.
