Congress leaders from Telangana region have taken exception to Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy's remarks about backwardness of Rayalaseema region compared to Telangana. Mr. Reddy's remarks in Chittoor and his double standards' on two incidents of assault on the Assembly premises.
Questioning the government's silence, the leaders wondered why a car driver Mallesh was jailed for assaulting Mr. Jayaprakash Narayan, while the same action was not taken against Mr.Vivekananda Reddy. A meeting of Telangana Congress MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and senior leaders on Sunday also criticised the Chief Minister for his remarks and for announcing a Rs. 4,500 crore package for Chittoor district.
