The state government on Monday issued orders extending ban on CPI Maoist by another year with effect from today. The state government which reviewed the situation was of the opinion that the Maoists constitute a serious danger and menace to public order, peace and tranquillity in the state.

The ban was imposed under the Andhra Pradesh Public Security Act, 1992 and would also be applicable to all the frontal organisations of the Maoists which includes All India Revolutionary Students Federation, Viplava Karmika Samakhya, Singareni Karmika Samakhya, Radical Students Union, Ryot Coolie Sangham and Radical Youth League.
