A fire on the premises of Metropolitan Criminal Court Complex at Nampally, on Monday afternoon, triggered panic among nearby residents. Thick smoke billowed out from the closed room of bar association on the first floor of the building around 1.30 p.m. Policemen, who were posted at the main gate, noticed the smoke and alerted the fire control room.
A fire tender from Gowlipura rushed to the spot and controlled the flames within an hour. Interiors, furniture and air-conditioner in the bar association room were damaged. The fire Officer said electrical short-circuit was the main cause and the sparks from the air-conditioner could have led to fire.
