TDP dharna against power tariff hike
The issue of power shortage and the recent hike in tariffs have become a major weapon for the opposition parties to take on the government. While the TDP will be holding statewide dharnas in front of all sub-stations today, the Left parties will be organising a roundtable this week and finalise their action plan for agitations.
At a press conference on Tuesday, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu lashed out at the government for 'destroying the power sector', and for having pushed the discoms into financial crisis. He said in the last six years, the discoms have not been getting the subsidy amount on account of free power and the dues have now mounted to the tune of Rs 14,000 crore. Naidu accused the government of failing in securing required gas allocation for the gas-based power plants.
