SC directs EC to allot common symbol to YSR Congress Party

The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday, directed the Election Commission to allot common symbol to newly formed YSR Congress Party candidates contesting from Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula assembly bypolls.
Disposing a petition filed by Mr.Jaganmohan Reddy appealing the Apex Court, to allot a common symbol before the by-elections, the legal bench stated that it is prerogative of the Election Commission of India to allot symbols to parties.
