Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has promised to expedite issuance of identity cards to construction workers and strictly implement the laws relating to their welfare. Mr. Reddy gave this assurance to a delegation led by senior BJP leader B. Dattatreya which met him and submitted a memorandum.

He said that all issues of construction workers would be reviewed at a high level meeting. The memorandum sought compensation of Rs. five lakh to workers who die while at work and Rs. two lakh to those who get maimed. It also wanted houses for workers and provide them work on contract basis during construction of government buildings.
