Compensation sought for flood victims

K. Kavita speaks of plans to celebrate Bathukamma festival at White House The Telangana Jagruti on Monday demanded just and immediate compensation for crops lost and farmlands damaged in Jainad and Bela mandals during the recent floods of Penganga River. About 30 villages on the banks of Penganga were affected according to Kavita, president of the organisation, who visited Pendalwada village during the day.

Ms. Kavita told newsmen that the TJ has planned to open about five drinking water purifying plants in agency areas in Adilabad that are reeling under the effect of epidemic. She said that providing safe water to the tribal people would control spreading of the epidemic. The TJ president criticised the government for not responding in time to a proposal to set up 26 water purifying plants in agency areas. The proposal envisages the organisation contributing 10 per cent of the cost, she added.
