Bringing back the reminiscence of anti arrack movement that paved way for prohibition in the state then, thousands of women have participated in the Telugu Desam agitation against belt shops launched in Nellore on Monday. The women have taken out a huge rally from V.R. College centre to NTR statue near Narthaki theatre.

Reminding the spirit of Nellore women which led the government to clamp ban on liquor in the past, the TD state committee members motivated the women to wage a battle against belt shops. Convenor of the committee and legislator, Ms Seethakka, has demanded the government to prevent drinking in public places and cancel the licenses of liquor shops having belt shops as extension to their outlets.
