State government keeps GO 177 in abeyance

* Cabinet sub-committee to review provisions of the government order
* Government will not hesitate to rectify defects, says Minister
Giving in to the strong opposition from employees' unions and political parties, the State government has backtracked on the controversial GO 177 on 'No work, no pay', by keeping it on hold till a thorough review of its provisions by a Cabinet sub-committee. The decision to keep the order in abeyance temporarily was taken by the Cabinet at its meeting on Saturday.
During the two-hour-long meeting, some Ministers from Telangana are understood to have objected to the issuance of the GO. But, the Chief Minister reportedly said there was nothing new in its provisions. He is said to have remarked that even when the T-JAC employees had struck work, they were paid salaries but there were indications that Seemandhra employees were planning to launch a strike.
