The unprecedented vehicle checking and frisking by the police in Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency has scuttled the plans of political parties to transport money for distribution to voters. Seizure of a whopping Rs. 2.01 crore in cash during the last three weeks in various parts of Kadapa district shows the extent of checks carried out by the police and also the thoroughness of the checks.

Teams comprising two Sub-Inspectors and constables are manning makeshift check posts in all the seven Assembly segments. However, their zealousness is causing inconvenience to those who have nothing to do with the by-elections. On their part, police officials maintain that they are strictly following the directions to check every vehicle entering the district.
