Virtually defying the party leadership, Minister for Mines Balineni Srinivasa Reddy turned down a request of Chief Minister K. Rosaiah not to participate in Congress MP Jaganmohan Reddy's Odarpu yatra' in Prakasam district from September 3. The Chief Minister reportedly telephoned the Minister, a close aide of the Kadapa MP on Thursday and conveyed the high command's message that he should not participate in the yatra.

This diktat was in line with the advice given by AICC leaders to the Congress MLAs from Prakasam during their meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday. Mr. Srinivasa Reddy confirmed that he received a call and hastened to add that he told the Chief Minister that he would not change his mind on the issue. Posts do not last forever and but my relationship with YSR's family is different, he told reporters on Thursday.
