A former MLA of Jaggaiahpeta, Mr B. Rama Rao, was arrested by the Banjara Hills police for firing in the air during a land dispute. He was remanded to judicial custody on Monday. Mr Rao was shifted to the Chanchalaguda jail after a health check-up at Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills.

According to Banjara Hills inspector of police, Mr Sudharshan, the accused was booked under Attempt to Murder, Arms Act and Trespassing. Meanwhile, the former MLA, Mr Samineni Uday Bhanu, reportedly received a threatening call asking him to vacate from his quarters at Jubilee Hills.
