Emaar: expert panel's report awaited

Besieged with raging controversy over irregularities committed by Emaar in its joint venture with APIIC for the integrated township project and the storm in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams over the Arjita Seva tickets, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has taken crucial decisions aimed at addressing both the issues. The Cabinet, which met on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K. Rosaiah, resolved to await the report of an expert committee appointed by APIIC before taking any action.
The committee is mandated to submit its report in seven to ten days. The issue, it is learnt, was raised by Information Technology Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, who said that the government's as well as the Congress party's image was getting sullied by a spate of reports about major accusations that the APIIC had been shortchanged in its deal with Emaar.
