Rahul Gandhi arrested for backing farmers' stir

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was arrested in a dramatic late night swoop on Wednesday, while he was on a sit-in at Bhatta Parsaul village in Uttar Pradesh. The move was to support agitating farmers demanding more money for their land being acquired for a highway project.
However, a stalemate later developed when Gandhi was taken to the Kasna police station and asked to sign a bond before being released.Gandhi was picked up from the sit-in site along with UP Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi, party general secretary Digvijay Singh and MP Raj Babbar.
