Assembly postponed

Governor, E S L Narasimhan, today issued a notification proroguing the Legislative Assembly. Earlier, the State government had decided to postpone the Assembly as the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker was completed. Accordingly, the Kiran Kumar Reddy government conveyed the Cabinet decision to the Governor on Monday seeking his approval.
With the Legislative Assembly being discontinued, there is no chance of the No-Confidence Motion for which a notice was given by the main Opposition Telugu Desam party being taken up till the House convened for the Monsoon Session. Though the Budget Session ended in last week of March, the Assembly was not postponed as the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker was pending.
