Dr. Nataraja Ramakrishna passed away

Well-known dance guru Nataraja Rama Krishna, who revived the Andhra Natyam and made it world famous is no more. He breathed his last today in the NIMS Hospital where he has been ailing since some time. Rama Krishna, who was the chairman of the State Sangita Nataka Academy, earned name as an expert dance researcher, intellectual, artiste and Guru to thousands of artistes.
He researched on the famous dance styles of Kuchipudi, Perini Sivathandavam and Andhra Natyam of Andhra Pradesh. He also revived the forgotten Andhra Natyam, by studying dance poses in the temple sculptures and developed it. He taught the dance to many. Similarly, he revived the Perini dance once taught to the soldiers of Kakatiya king Ganapati Deva. Industry expressed their grief.
