The Singareni Collieries Company Limited recognized workers union, the All India Trade Union Congress representatives served a strike notice to the management at Kothagudem on Saturday. The workers union had announced the strike notice on April 22 this year in the first instance with 47 demands.

On these demands discussions had been held between the union and the management on four occasions. Finally, the SCCL management has not given assurance on some of the key demands and the workers union decided to initiate the strike from June 20. But the sources from the SCCL said that the discussions will be continued and consensus will have to be achieved.
