In a bid to lend more credibility and teeth to its struggle against illegal mining and other public issues, Telugu Desam on Friday roped in CPI and CPI(M) and expectedly the three Opposition parties decided to take up all campaigns jointly henceforth. Reminiscent of their pre-election talks on seat adjustments, K. Narayana and B. V. Raghavulu, secretaries of the State CPI and CPI (M) respectively met TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu at his residence where they were closeted for over an hour.

There was virtually no government in place with scandals breaking out on a daily basis. A joint opposition struggle could put the government in further embarrassment, they felt. Mr. Naidu told media persons that the meeting discussed ways of blocking the export and transportation of iron ore with government showing no interest to impose a ban.
