T protagonist Prof. Jaishankar no more
A staunch protagonist of separate Telangana state and founder member of TRS, Prof. K. Jaishankar passed away in his home town in Warangal district today. Many political representatives and activists from Telangana region, paid their last respects to the professor. Let's have a complete report on Mr.Jayashankar, for his contribution in the separate statehood movement.
The 76 old professor Jaishankar was ailing for some time with cancer and was undergoing treatment in the hospital. Only few days back he was shifted to his native place Akkampet of Atmakur mandal in Warngal district, where he breathed his last. Born at Akkampet village in Atmakuru Mandalam of Warangal district on August 6, 1934, Jayashankar attained degree in economics from Aligarh and Banaras universities and secured his Ph.D from Osmania University.
He served as Principal of Warangal CKM from 1975 to 79 and then served as Registrar of Kakatiya University from 1989 to 1981. Later he served as Registrar of CIEFL from 1982 to 91 and then as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of KU till 1994.Having studied extensively on regional imbalances, Prof. Jaishankar played an active part for the cause of Telangana state from student days.
He was deeply involved in the separate Telangana agitation in 1969. As a matter of fact he was instrument and guiding force in the formation of TRS. Shocked and grieved at the untimely demise of Prof. Jaishankar, the TRS President Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao and the TJAC Convenor Prof. Kodanaram immediately rushed to Hanmakonda.
A number of leaders from different walks of life including ministers Jana Reddy, Ponnala Laxmaiah, Sunitha Laxma Reddy. D. K. Aruna and Shailajanath expressed grief over his demise.
