A day after the State government issued GO 973 directing the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation to collect user charges for lifting garbage, Vijayawda MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, on Sunday, asserted, The user charges would not be a burden on the common man. He further stated, It is up to the VMC to decide when and how to implement the GO. The Corporation availed funds Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission programme with a motto to keep city clean and tidy. The VMC had to agreed to some conditions to avail the JNNURM funds to the tune of Rs. 60 crore. And, for release of the funds, the GO was issued strategically, he said.
