Nagam, Harishwar arrested on OU campus
Police lobbed teargas shells to disperse warring students on the Osmania University campus when it once again turned into a war zone. Trouble broke out soon after the expelled TDP rebel legislators, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy and Mr Harishwar Reddy went to the campus to enquire about the health condition of the fasting students.
As tension began to mount with students shouting pro-Telangana slogans getting restless, the police took the two legislators into custody. Enraged over the unwarranted police action in even trying to close down the gates to the campus, the students picked up an argument with them.
Amidst hecklings and jostling between the police and the students, some stones also rained on them. In a bid to prevent escalation of violence, the police tried to chase away the students who intensified their stoning.
