Chidambaram rules out President's Rule

Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram today, ruled out imposition of President's Rule in state, as an alternative to resolve the raging Telangana issue. Fielding questions during his briefing, the Home Minister reiterated that a solution to the Telangana crisis could be evolved only through discussions and consultations. He reminded that the meeting between Mr. Gulam Nabi Azad and the Telangana Congress leaders was in tune with this exercise.
Mr. Chidambaram explained that the additional central forces have been dispatched to Andhra Pradesh to contain any untoward incidents in the wake of dharnas and bandhs. He asserted that the central forces dispatched to maintain peace in the stat and not as a prelude to imposition of President's Rule.
