Heavy rain lashed the city on Wednesday evening leading to water logging in many low laying areas and disrupting traffic on main thorough fares. Majority of the home-bound employees and students were caught in the rain and traffic jams. People were seen taking shelter under bus stops, malls, flyovers and commercial establishments.

Rainwater entered into many houses at Malkajgiri, Bharatnagar, Shamshabad and other surrounding areas. Drains were overflowing on the main thoroughfares of Miyapur, Jeedimetla, Chandanagar areas. People had to wade through knee-deep water on these main roads and many vehicles broke down, said GHMC authorities. The situation in old city was even worse. Even hours after the rain stopped, roads were still water-logged in many areas.
